Saudi Arabia: the value of military cooperation with the United States for regional policy
American policy considers military help as a means of conquest, useful in regions of strategic importance. In the summer came the announcement that the Bush administration would extend its military support to its own allies in the Middle East and North Africa, which didn't however surprise international observers. Neither were they left astonished by Washington's generosity towards Saudi Arabia, to which it has granted an arms package to the value of $20billion: in the region, the Saudi country is a highly valuable ally of the United States, despite doubts over its involvement in the destabilization of Iraq.
